Peter Smith

TV journalist, Scotland Correspondent for ITV News.

I have reported on the biggest stories in recent years, including Scotland’s independence referendum, the Calais ‘jungle’ and people smuggling, paedophile gangs grooming vulnerable children, the Shoreham air disaster, the Clutha helicopter crash, the 2015 winter floods, and an award-winning investigation into the financial collapse of Rangers FC. It’s a diverse portfolio that’s taken me across the UK and beyond to present packaged reports and live broadcasts.

In 2014, I won the prestigious UK-wide Royal Television Society award for Young Talent of the Year. Further to this, I have earned a reputation as a story-generating journalist regularly bringing in off-diary exclusives, and was shortlisted for RTS Scotland Scoop of the Year.

Internationally, I have experience working from location in Asia, Africa, and continental Europe. I speak Vietnamese fluently, French adequately, and am still working on my Arabic and Mandarin.
