Head of Programme - Arms Trafficking in Eastern and Western Europe
Communications Professional
Ms. Gjoni founded the Impact Centre in Albania in February 2019, soon after returning from the one-year fellowship at the McCain Institute in Washington D.C.
The Centre focuses on promoting character driven leadership, active citizenship, respect for human rights and a fair representation of women in the media in Albania and in the Western Balkans region.
In support of these goals, the Centre has published the book “Women Can”, as well as has trained over 200 young people to approach the future based on character as well as competences. It identifies and promotes role-models that are succeeding despite corruption and illegal approached in the Western Balkans. Her recent efforts have focused on research on the media representation of women, violence and misuse of vulnerable youth in illegal activities in Albania.
Prior to the current role, Ms. Gjoni has served as Communications and Knowledge Management Professional for various international organisations in the Western Balkans, being responsible for the communications strategies and coordination’s roles in the region. She has also served as a lecturer and trainer on media and communications subjects since 2011, as well as Character Driven Leadership since 2018.
