Lavdim Hamidi has been covering news on the economy in Kosovo since 2002 and recently founded an online web portal in Kosovo, FrontOnline.net, specialized for investigative stories on corruption and organised crime.
Before deciding to establish “Front Online”, Hamidi led the daily newspaper “Zeri” in Kosovo for over six years, which has so far been rated as an independent media in country.
For about two decades in journalism, Hamidi published several investigative stories on privatization process how this process was challenged from occupiers with powerful connections. He also investigated a lot of scandals related to high officials in government, public enterprises, private sector etc.
Hamidi published several regional researches also; on Turkish investments in Balkan countries, illegal migration and illegal smugglers.
Lavdim has been honoured with several local and international awards for his journalistic work, including a first prize at the annual Balkan Fellowship for Journalistic Excellence from the Robert Bosch Stiftung, Erste Stiftung and BIRN in Vienna in 2008, annual award for journalism ‘Rexhai Surroi’ from the KOHA Media Group in 2011, best Anti-Corruption Story Award awarded by UNDP and the Kosovo Anti-Corruption Agency, EU award 2015 in Kosovo for investigative journalism in Kosovo for illegal migration.
Last year (2018) he also was awarded by the Union of Albanian Journalists in Tirana with best economic story “Vangjush Gambeta”, etc.
Lavdim received his Master’s degree in International Economic Relations in 2012 in South Eastern European University in Macedonia.
