David Dembélé

Investigative Journalist, Réseau Malien des Journalistes d'Investigation

David Dembélé is an investigative journalist based in Bamako with 15 years of experience. A graduate of the Ecole Supérieure de Journalisme de Lille, he has worked in several local media including Journal du Mali, 26 Mars and Dépêches du Mali and was a contributor to Le Monde Afrique. David is a member of the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists (ICIJ). In Mali, he practices data journalism and is a founding member of the Malian Network of Investigative Journalists (RMJI).

David joined the Board of Directors of the Norbert Zongo Cell for Investigative Journalism in West Africa (CENOZO) and is a founding member of this organization. He also established an investigative center in 2021 called “PINIA for Investigative Journalism” that focuses on investigative stories in the Sahel region. For the past two years, he has been a member of the International Jury of the Guillermo Cano Prize instituted by UNESCO.
