Field Coordinator for Bosnia and Herzegovina, Global Initiative against Transnational Organized Crime
Anesa Agović is an analyst and field coordinator for Bosnia and Herzegovina with the Global Initiative Against Transnational Organized Crime (GI-TOC), where she leads work on illicit financial flows, environmental crime, organized crime networks, and human trafficking in the Western Balkans. She provides on-the-ground expertise and policy engagement, contributing to evidence-based strategies to counter organized crime and its enablers.
Anesa’s work is grounded in her professional specialization in illicit financial flows, including money laundering schemes, financial crime risk assessments, and the role of professional enablers in facilitating cross-border illicit finance. She has authored and co-authored key GI-TOC publications on IFFs in the Western Balkans, as well as research on environmental crime, migrant smuggling, and trafficking in human beings, highlighting how these markets intersect and are exploited by criminal networks.
She also plays an active role in advocacy and regional cooperation, regularly engaging with government stakeholders, prosecutors, journalists, and youth. Anesa has represented GI-TOC at international forums and conferences, including high-level dialogues on organized crime and illicit financial flows. Based in Sarajevo, she holds a background in journalism and two master’s degrees from the University of Sarajevo. With her work, she is dedicated to connecting investigative research with civic action and practical policy responses.
