Olga Biegus is an independent consultant working on environmental governance, wildlife crime, and international legal frameworks, with over seven years of experience across Europe, Southern Africa, and the Western Indian Ocean region. She holds an MPhil in Criminology (Law & Society) from the University of Cape Town, where she focused on legal and policy instruments against environmental crime, and a Master’s in Social Sciences from Nicolaus Copernicus University, Poland. Her work covers legal and institutional framework analysis, criminal market research, and policy development on illegal wildlife trade and transnational organised crime. She has done this over several years with international organisations including TRAFFIC and the Global Initiative Against Transnational Organized Crime. She has also contributed to CITES processes and worked on protected area governance and ranger workforce development. Olga is a member of the IUCN WCPA Wildlife Crime Prevention Specialist Group and the UNCAC Coalition Environmental Crime and Corruption Working Group, and holds a role within IUCN WCPA Europe.
