Guillermo Vazquez del Mercado Almada

Guillermo Vázquez del Mercado has more than 17 years of professional experience in public and private sector developing security public policies, especially those related to crime prevention, violence reduction, police institutions and illicit trade.

As Senior Analyst for the Global Initiative, Guillermo coordinated de Coalitions for Resilience Project in Central America which aims to understand extortion and strengthen resilience at the municipal and community level. He is also Associate Professor at CIDE where he co-coordinates the Violence in Mexico Studies Program. He has also collaborated for projects developed by international cooperation agencies such as UNODC, GIZ-Mexico and USAID contractors in Mexico and Guatemala.

Guillermo lives in Mexico City and has a BA in Political Science from CIDE (Mexico) and a Masters Degree in Public Policy and Management from the University of Pittsburgh (USA).
