Programme Manager, Global Initiative against Transnational Organized Crime
Vanja Petrovic joined the Global Initiative in April 2022 as a Programme Manager for the South Eastern Europe Observatory. Vanja has a long experience in international development projects and research in the field of rule of law, human rights, criminal and social justice. She started her career in Serbia working for GIZ’s regional legal reform project, and in 2011 moved to South Africa where her focus has primarily been on research, training and advocacy in the field of criminology and criminal justice. She worked extensively in Mozambique, contributing to a number of research projects related to juvenile justice, policing, prisons and prisoners’ rights, sentencing, etc. Vanja holds MPhil in interdisciplinary studies – Criminology, Law and Society from the University of Cape Town (UCT) South Africa. She is native Serbian, and fluent in English and Spanish.
