Sarah David is the Head of Project of the “Global Partnership on Drug Policies and Development (GPDPD)” at Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), where she has led different initiatives since 2016. Her work focuses on development- and health-centered drug policies, alongside feminist development policy, with a regional focus on Latin America, the Caribbean, and Central Asia. From 2016 to 2018, she has supported the work of the EU-financed CADAP VI programme in Kirgistan as an advisor. From 2021 to 2024, she also coordinated the Subcomponent on “Alternative Development” within the EU-funded COPOLAD III program. Sarah holds a Master’s degree in Latin American Studies from the University of Hamburg and a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich, with academic experiences at the Benemérita Universidad Autónoma de Puebla (Mexico) and the Universidad de los Andes (Colombia). Prior to joining GIZ, she gained experience with the Friedrich Ebert Foundation in Mexico, as well as with the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) in Vienna.
