Marwan Mohammed is a sociologist, CNRS researcher and member of the Centre Maurice Halbwachs in Paris. He taught sociology at EHESS. His main research topics are social, urban, racism and racial inequalities, as well as delinquency and criminal justice. His current work focuses on collective violence, drug trafficking and organized crime. His latest book, “Y a embrouille”, looks at the sociology of neighborhood rivalries (Stock). He has also long worked on urban revolts in working-class neighborhoods, writing and directing the documentary film “La tentation de l’émeute” (The Temptation of the Riot), broadcast in 2010 by the Franco-German channel ARTE (Morgane Production). His current research aims to understand the evolution of drug-related violence in Marseille.
