Martin Purbrick is a consultant, analyst and writer. He is an expert on corruption and organised crime in Asia, in particular Chinese criminal gangs and Triad societies.
Martin writes about corruption, organised crime, financial crime, law enforcement and good governance as well as conducts research and consults on projects relating to a wide variety of areas including organised crime threats, illegal gambling, and due diligence of companies.
He also chairs a think tank focussed on financial crime in sports betting. From 2009 to 2020 he was Director of Security & Integrity for the Hong Kong Jockey Club. Martin has also worked in senior leadership roles in McKinsey & Company and Intel Corporation. Martin joined the Royal Hong Kong Police Force in 1988 and spent eleven years as a Detective Senior Inspector in Special Branch, the Criminal Intelligence Bureau, and Commercial Crime Bureau dealing mainly with intelligence led investigations into illegal arms dealing, counter terrorism, organised crime and Triads in collaboration with various overseas agencies.
