Lorenzo Vallejos Mazzini

Lorenzo is an International Consultant specializing in environmental crime, forest governance, and sustainable development policy across Latin America’s Amazon Basin. He has over 24 years of experience, the professional background includes pivotal roles at the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), serving as Regional Technical Advisor for the Global Programme on Crimes that Affect the Environment (GPCAE). This work involved leading multimillion-dollar initiatives to strengthen governance, enforcement, and cross-border cooperation against transnational organized environmental crime in six Amazonian countries. His key expertise covers designing early-warning systems, conducting strategic assessments, and advising governments on intelligence-led approaches to combat forest crimes and illicit economies. Currently, he is operating as an independent consultant, the focus remains on helping institutions build robust environmental governance frameworks and promote sustainable community alternatives. His professional expertise spans the full project cycle, from policy analysis and resource mobilization to monitoring and evaluation. His academic credentials include a degree in Forestry Engineering and postgraduate studies in Ecotourism, reflecting a commitment to linking conservation with sustainable livelihoods.
