Kosyo Ivanov

Senior Analyst, Global Initiative Against Transnational Organized Crime

Kosyo joined the Global Initiative as a Research Assistant in July 2018, working on ENACT: Enhancing Africa’s response to transnational organized crime. Since then he has contributed to a number of projects, including GI’s Western Balkans Organized Crime Index. Kosyo was appointed a Regional Coordinator for the Global Organized Crime Index in 2019 before joining the GI as a staff member in December 2020.

Prior to joining the Global Initiative, Kosyo spent a year working on a project exploring serial offending in Bulgaria in the capacity of a criminology expert as well as a year interning at The Commission on Pardons within the President of the Republic of Bulgaria. Kosyo holds a BA (Hons) in Criminology from Lancaster University as well as an MSc in Countering Organized Crime and Terrorism from the University College London (UCL), with his master thesis assessing the applicability of the Routine Activity Approach in understanding corruption in former Soviet satellite states.
