Gideon Ofosu-Peasah

Analyst, Global Initiative against Transnational Organized Crime

Gideon Ofosu-Peasah is an Energy Economist, a Minerals Analyst and a Climate Finance Specialist. He worked for GITOC as a Consultant from February 2021 and transitioned to a full-time role in October 2022 as an Analyst supporting work in the extractives and illicit flows thematic area. Gideon has worked as an Expert panel member on the political economy analysis of Ghana’s extractive sector, Coordinator for the CSO working group on Ghana’s first oil block licensing round and a Steering committee member of the Media Coalition against Illegal Mining. He has also consulted for non-profits such as EITI, NRGI and DW Akademie. He has published over 20 working papers, academic journal articles, policy briefs and op-eds and contributes to shaping policy through his appearances in the media. Gideon was listed among the top seven rising energy stars in the 2018 Ghana Energy Awards. He brings on board over a decade of experience from the extractive sector, media and academia. He was an Australia Award Scholar, a Research Fellow at the Technische Universität Dresden and a climate finance Fellow at the Frankfurt School of Finance and Management both in Germany. He holds a Ph.D. in Sustainable Energy Management (Energy Security and Climate Policy) from the University of Energy and Natural Resources, Ghana.
