Fábio Bechara

Fábio Bechara has been a State Prosecutor in São Paulo since 1996, and Deputy Attorney General. He is a former member of the Special Unit for the Investigation and Prosecution of Organized Crime, with a particular focus on the activities of the PCC both in Brazil and abroad. Fábio holds a PhD in Law from the University of São Paulo (USP).

He previously coordinated the Integrated Intelligence Center for Public Security and the State of São Paulo’s Anti-Organized Crime Integrated Agency. At USP, he serves as a member of the Board and President of the Steering Committee of the Multidimensional Security School, where he also coordinates the Illicit Trade and Organized Crime Project. In addition, he is a member of GACINT/USP.

Fábio is a Professor of Criminal Law at Mackenzie Presbyterian University, teaching in both undergraduate and graduate programs, and a Global Fellow at the Brazil Institute of the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars.

He has published several books and articles on topics such as terrorism and criminal justice, intelligence, international legal cooperation in criminal matters, and international criminal procedure.
