Dr. Mirlis Reyes Salarichs

Professor, Inter-American Defense College

Dr. Mirlis Reyes Salarichs is a full-time professor at the Inter-American Defense College (IADC). The courses she has developed and taught at IADC include Political Economy of Defense and Security, Illicit Economy, and Crisis Management. She is the editor-in-chief for the IADC Journal.

Dr. Reyes obtained her Ph.D. in Economics at the University of Macerata, Italy. The main objective of her dissertation was the critical analysis of Latin American economic theories about local development that emphasize institutions’ role. Her area of expertise as a researcher has been in Illicit Economy, Local Development, and Political Economy. Over the years, she has also been active as a visiting professor for several universities in Latin American countries. Dr. Reyes has likewise participated as a speaker at numerous international conferences and events. She also serves as a consultant for non-profit organizations in the Washington DC area.
