Abigail Robinson is an international security expert who has focused throughout her career on the role good governance plays in security and conflict prevention. Her current work focuses on climate and environmental security. She has extensive experience supporting security sector reform processes in Latin America, Sub-Saharan Africa and the Balkans and advising leaders of defense and security institutions on strategy, planning, and resource management. Previously, Abigail worked as principal program manager and advisor to the assistant director of the Geneva Centre for Security Sector Governance (DCAF), where she managed research on topics including hybrid security, security sector responses to climate and environmental risks, trauma in the security sector, and police use of force. Prior to joining DCAF, she held a number of positions in the U.S. government, including senior program manager with the Center for Civil Military Relations, deputy head of the U.S. Delegation to the OPCW, and U.S. Army officer. Abigail is a member of the Environmental Peacebuilding Association and the Environment, Climate, Conflict and Peace Community of Practice, and serves on the advisory board of Project CASA (Climate and Security Action). She has a M.S. in Political Science and a B.S. in Chemical Engineering.
