Clay R. Fuller is Principal at Fuller Solutions LLC and adjunct professor of political science at Western Carolina University. He also works with the International Republican Institute (IRI) in Washington, D.C., helping to advance rule of law democracy around the world. He writes for Stratfor in Austin, TX and sits on the Advisory Council of the Hudson Institute’s Kleptocracy Initiative. He was in the inaugural class of Jeane Kirkpatrick Fellows at the American Enterprise Institute (AEI) (2017-19). His work illuminates how modern dictators, terrorists, and transnational criminals use free markets to consolidate and project power.
Dr. Fuller recently produced a report at AEI on Dismantling the Authoritarian Corruption Nexus, which examines the national security implications of economic policy. He has testified to the U.S. Senate twice on these topics. He has published peer-reviewed journal articles and opinion pieces appearing in The Hill, The National Interest, The American Interest, and many other outlets. He is currently working on two book projects.
Previously, Dr. Fuller taught international relations and comparative politics at the University of South Carolina. He currently teaches online courses for Western Carolina University. He holds four degrees in political science: a Ph.D. and M.A. from the University of South Carolina, another M.A. from Texas State University, and a B.A. from West Virginia State University.
