Dr. Rieko Hayakawa is involved with ASEAN countries and Pacific Island countries since 1988. She has served as a Youth Program Executive in the Japanese Prime Minister’s Office. In 2008, Dr. Hayakawa launched the Western Pacific Maritime Security Project and included it in the 2017 Abe’s Indo-Pacific Initiative. She has also contributed to cybercrime enforcement in the Pacific Islands.
