Joschka Johann Proksik

Postdoctoral researcher, Swiss Federal Institute of Technology, ETH Zurich

Joschka J. Proksik is a postdoctoral researcher in the Center for Development and Cooperation (NADEL) at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology. His current research focuses on illicit financial flows in resource-rich developing countries and on the political economy of artisanal and small-scale mining in Sub-Saharan Africa.

He received a PhD in political and administrative science from the University of Konstanz, Germany, where he worked as a lecturer in the Department of Politics and Public Administration and as coordinator of the Master’s programme “International Administration and Conflict Management” in the Center of Excellence.

His research has concentrated on the nexus between peacebuilding and organized crime with a particular focus on international peace operations. Based on extensive field research, he analyzed post-conflict dynamics of organized crime and the political economy challenges of rule-of-law capacity building in Kosovo.
