Iliana Padilla-Reyes

Born in Culiacán, Sinaloa, Dr. Iliana Padilla Reyes has dedicated her career to the study of violence and the promotion of peace from both global and local perspectives. In addition to her academic endeavors, she actively collaborates with civil society organizations, adding practical experience to her scholarly work. As a professor at UNAM’s ENES Juriquilla, she exemplifies the interconnected nature of teaching, research, and institutional advancement. Iliana holds degrees in International Studies and American and Canadian Studies from the Autonomous University of Sinaloa (UAS). She pursued her Doctorate in Regional Studies at UAS, with a specific focus on issues related to violence. Her membership in CONAHCYT’s National System of Researchers reflects her unwavering commitment to both scholarly progress and the well-being of society.

Her research interests encompass various aspects, including the analysis of how violence manifests in urban areas, the examination of gender-based violence, and the exploration of peace building initiatives from a local perspective. Within the academic sphere, her active involvement in funded projects and policy development underscores her dedication to shaping discussions on critical issues. Her roles within UNAM’s Urbanism program highlight her dedication to nurturing the next generation of scholars, equipping students with the knowledge and awareness needed to comprehensively understand the intricate dynamics of violence and peace.
