Chiara started working at the GI as a research assistant in October 2018 and joined as a full time analyst in June 2019. She conducts research on migration through the Sahel and is based in Paris, France. Before joining the GI, she worked with Médecins Sans Frontières UK’s Programmes Unit doing advocacy in London and with GIZ IS as an intern in Ethiopia.

Chiaria has a MA in Migration Studies from the University of Sussex, a Masters in Geography and Development from the Institute of Geography at la Sorbonne and a BA in history from la Sorbonne. She also volunteered extensively with migrants and refugees in Paris, Calais and Greece where she did search and rescue in 2015-2016.

Chiara has dual Italian and French nationality and is fluent in French, Italian and English. She also has basic knowledge of Amharic.
