Andres Salazar is a Senior Political Affairs Officer in the Department of Political Affairs of the United Nations Secretariat. He currently leads the Americas Division Central America Team and is responsible for backstopping the work of the International Commission against Impunity in Guatemala, a UN-backed initiative. Mr. Salazar’s work at the United Nations has focused primarily on Latin American issues. He also was a political officer in the Office of the Special Adviser to the Secretary-General on the Prevention of Genocide, at the time in which the mandate was established.
