Romain Le Cour Grandmaison

Co-Founder at Noria Research / PhD Candidate at Sorbonne University

Romain Le Cour Grandmaison is the Co-Founder of Noria Research. He is completing a PhD in Political Science at the Sorbonne University. Romain is also a Visiting Scholar at the History Department at Columbia University, an Associate Researcher in the ERC “Civil Wars” Program, and a member of the Standing Group on Organized Crime (ECPR SGOC).

Since 2013, he has conducted more than 3 years of cumulated fieldwork in Mexico, covering organized crime dynamics and violence in the country.

Parallel to his academic activities, Romain has been a consultant and a researcher for several United Nations agencies and organizations.

He is the co-author of the policy report “No More Opium for the masses. The effect of US Fentanyl crisis on Mexico”, for Noria Research and the Woodrow Wilson Center, as well as the co-editor of the book “The State, after all. Building Authority Amidst Violence” (L’État malgré tout. Produire l’autorité dans la violence) published in France at Éditions Karthala in 2019.
