Many refugees are always compelled to move irregularly to seek protection from conflict, violence or persecution. For this, they often resort to the services of smuggler in order to go to other countries that can offer them peace and stability. In these circumstances, refugees are particularly vulnerable to being trafficked or falling victim to serious crimes and human rights violations.

Wibena Impact in collaboration with the Global Initiative Against Transnational Organized Crime  (GI- TOC) under their Resilience Fund Program will bring together experts  and refugee who have survived the trafficking ordeals for a stakeholders engagement on the  smuggling crisis. The virtual event seeks  to “give  a voice to the voiceless” and  analyse  the role of civil society and the private sector in countering human trafficking of refugees in East Africa.
