Joseph Hincks

Head of Press, Global Initiative Against Transnational Organized Crime

Joseph is Head of Press at the Global Initiative Against Transnational Organized Crime, based in Bangkok. He leads the organization’s media outreach and press strategy, working to bring the GI-TOC’s research and analysis to news audiences worldwide. His role includes managing relationships with reporters and editors covering organized crime, and coordinating press engagement across the GI-TOC’s regional observatories.

Before joining the GI-TOC, Joseph spent over a decade as a journalist and communications specialist. He was a correspondent for TIME, based in Istanbul and Hong Kong, with additional bylines in The New York Times, Newsweek, National Geographic and Al Jazeera. He has also worked as a communications consultant for the United Nations in Thailand, Indonesia and Sri Lanka, most recently with UNESCO’s Regional Office in Bangkok, where he worked on programmes related to freedom of expression, media viability, and journalists’ safety. He holds a BA from Queen Mary University of London and an MSc from the University of Oxford.
