Shenaz Muzaffer is the General Counsel of the International Association of Prosecutors (IAP), the only worldwide network of prosecutors. Shenaz is on secondment from the Crown Prosecution Service of England and Wales, where she was a Deputy Chief Crown Prosecutor, Head of the International Division and deputy Head of the Serious Economic Organised Crime and International Division.
She holds an LLB (Hons) (1st Class) from the University of Nottingham, and is a member of the Bar of England and Wales. Shenaz spent eleven years as a barrister prosecuting the full range of criminal offences before joining the CPS International Division. She was seconded for two years as State Counsel to the Attorney General’s Office in Seychelles as part of the UK’s counter-piracy mission, before spending eighteen months as a liaison prosecutor in the United Arab Emirates, promoting prosecutorial cooperation between the UK and the UAE. She then spent three years as the UK’s liaison prosecutor to the USA, advising on mutual legal assistance and extradition issues regarding transnational and serious organised crime. From August 2019 onwards, she oversaw a network of CPS liaison prosecutors deployed overseas in twenty countries and led for the CPS on their international engagement.
