Tierney McCue is a Programme Associate with the Governance and Network Team at the Global Initiative Against Transnational Organized Crime (GI-TOC), where she supports the Secretariat’s programmatic initiatives. Prior to joining GI-TOC, she interned with the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) in the Population and Development Division, contributing to global efforts to advance census implementation and strengthen population data initiatives.
Her professional experience also spans roles in international education and research, including positions at the United States Army War College, Dickinson College, and the American International School of Salzburg.
Tierney holds an MSc in Global Demography from the University of Vienna and a Bachelor’s degree in International Studies from Dickinson College. Based in Vienna, she is committed to advancing data management practices in support of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Her previous research examined data gaps in UN-classified Least Developed Countries (LDCs), and she is particularly passionate about applying demographic research to improve maternal health outcomes and strengthen Civil Registration and Vital Statistics (CRVS) systems. Through her work, she aims to leverage demographic evidence to drive human development and global progress.
