Ruth Dreifuss

Ruth Dreifuss is former president and Minister of Home Affairs of Switzerland. During her time in office (1993–2002), she implemented new policy to combat drug addiction and enhance prevention of HIV/AIDS. Following her time in government, she chaired the WHO Commission, which reports on public health, innovation and intellectual property rights, and co-chaired the High Level Panel on the same subject. She serves as a member of the International Commission Against the Death Penalty and is chair of the Global Commission on Drug Policy.
