Melissa joined the GI-TOC in 2024 and is a member of the ECO-SOLVE team, the GI-TOC’s flagship environmental crime project, where her efforts are focused on disrupting illicit wildlife trade in South Africa and globally. She holds a MA Criminology degree from the University of Pretoria and is currently pursuing her PhD Criminology with research focused on violent life-sentenced offenders. Previously, she worked as a freelance consultant, assisting with risk and threat assessment and management, criminal justice services, and criminal investigations.
