Joschka J. Proksik is a postdoctoral researcher with the Development Economics Group at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology, ETH Zurich. He also serves as the coordinator of the research project “Curbing Illicit Financial Flows from Resource-rich Developing Countries.”
His research focuses on the political economy of resource governance, artisanal and small-scale mining, illicit economies, organized crime, and post-conflict peacebuilding, as well as governance and policy research more broadly. Joschka has conducted research in Latin America, Sub-Saharan Africa, and the Western Balkans.
Before joining ETH, he worked as an academic coordinator and lecturer in the Department of Politics and Management at the University of Konstanz, where he earned a PhD in political and administrative science. His doctoral research concentrated on the nexus between peacebuilding and organized crime. Based on extensive field research, he analysed post-conflict dynamics of organized crime and the political economy of rule-of-law promotion in Kosovo.
