Carmen is a journalist, photographer and lawyer. She is currently researching and is an activist for women’s and children’s rights, focusing on the crime of human trafficking and children’s rights.
Carmen was in charge of drafting Peru’s first National Plan of Action for Children and the development of community ombudsmen (UNICEF Peru), a local mechanism for the protection of children’s and women’s rights. She was also responsible for the coordination of the development of the Platform for Action for Women’s Rights presented by the Peruvian state at the Beijing Summit.
