Arnold Djuma Batundi supported a number of research projects on human rights, peacebuilding and civil society sustainability in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
In 2011, he created the Coalition des Volontaires pour la paix et le développement (Voluntary Alliance for Peace and Development – CVPD), which he has been leading since as Secretary General. The CVPD’s spheres of action include human rights, peacebuilding and sustainable development, with an emphasis on the protection of peacebuilding and human rights workers.
During the Second Congo War up until 2010, Arnold coordinated the activities of the SOPROP (Solidarité pour la promotion sociale et la paix – Solidarity for Social Advancement and Peace), which main activities revolve around human rights promotion. As such, he directed monitoring missions on human rights violation issues, community-based education as well as support to victims of torture and gender-based violence.
Arnold holds a B.A. in Project Management from the Université Ouverte CIDEP (Goma, DRC), and a Master’s degree in Project Management from the Martin Luther King University, Bujumbura, Burundi.
