The North American Observatory monitors and analyzes criminal markets and changes in the operations of transnational organized crime groups in Mexico, the United States, and Canada, producing rigorous and timely research to inform public policy. It also promotes strategic exchange among authorities, academia, journalists, organized civil society, and other key actors, and strengthens capacities through spaces for dialogue and advocacy on issues such as the production and trafficking of unregulated fentanyl, synthetic drugs, and arms trafficking, incorporating a comprehensive gender perspective.
The Observatory works in partnership with institutions such as the Munk School of Global Affairs & Public Policy at the University of Toronto and the Center for Security, Intelligence and Governance Studies at the Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México.
