Phygital-OC is a new EU-funded project led by the Central Operational Service of the Italian Ministry of the Interior designed to Dismantle Organised Crime across Europe.

With organised crime groups (OCGs) becoming more sophisticated and interconnected, this new project aims to strengthen international co-operation and information sharing among European law enforcement agencies (LEAs) to help dismantle criminal networks.

With a focus on ethnic mafia-style OCGs, Phygital-OC will deploy advanced technologies and analysis to better track, monitor and understand how transnational criminal networks – across Europe, Latin America & the Caribbean (LAC), Africa, and the Western Balkans – operate, and will create better responses to them.

Through an active exchange of information, insight and intelligence, the project aims to first foster a deeper understanding of the methods used by criminal networks involved in drug trafficking and trafficking in human beings in the physical and digital world.

The project will then establish and equip new rapid response centres and specialised inter-agency teams of analysts and investigators in Rome, Murcia and Athens, called Operational Task Forces (OTFs), with the latest advanced tools and technologies to conduct joint investigations in response.

The project will establish a dedicated ‘Operative Room’ within the Prosecutor’s Office of Florence to enhance coordination and response capabilities.

The project will bring together a new Alliance of LEAs, judicial authorities, civil society organisations (CSOs) and others, who are individually and collectively committed to dismantle organised crime – helping to make our communities safer and more secure for everyone.
