This event will feature a presentation from Dr John Collins (GI-TOC Director of Academic Engagement) of his December 2021 book on the history of UN Drug Control.

The book is the first fully-focussed history of the 1961 UN Single Convention on Narcotic Drugs. As the CND responds to emerging challenges and realities of the World Drug Problem, in the wake of the UN General Assembly Special Session (UNGASS 2016), the event will aim to use lessons from history to understand how the UN Drug Control system continues to shape national approaches to narcotic drugs, and what changes we can expect in the future. Knowledge gained from these lessons and expected changes can help to identify and safeguard victims of drug-related crime.
