The 12th Conference of the Parties to the UN Convention against Transnational Organized Crime (UNTOC) will take place in Vienna from 14 to 18 October 2024.

The Global Initiative Against Transnational Organized Crime (GI-TOC) will draw on its globally dispersed operations and networks to present its latest research, analysis and recommendations.

We will team up with governments and civil society to deliver a comprehensive programme of side events and other engagements aimed at enhancing multi-stakeholder cooperation to tackle organized crime and corruption, combat crimes that affect the environment, and strengthen regional cooperation— for example, in the Pacific and the Andean region, and to tackle organized fraud and human trafficking in Southeast Asia.

GI-TOC will present a new report entitled Is the UNTOC working? An independent assessment of the implementation and impact of the UNTOC, and will join efforts to enhance implementation of the Palermo Convention.

Several community leaders working to build resilience to environmental crimes, supported by GI-TOC programs ECO-SOLVE and the Resilience Fund, will be present in Vienna to take part in the meetings and engage directly with the international community at the Conference as it negotiates a resolution on crimes that affect the environment.

To promote participation in the UNTOC Review Mechanism, the GI-TOC has created a new resource for civil society, the UNTOC Hub.

This webpage gives regularly updated information on the status of country reviews, and provides civil society stakeholders with letter templates, questionnaires and other resources. We hope this initiative will support civil society’s engagement in the review of the leading international legal instrument to combat transnational organized crime.
