Senior Analyst, Global Initiative against Transnational Organized Crime
Alonso Flores Macher is a Senior Analyst at the Global Initiative against Transnational Organized Crime (GI-TOC), where he leads research and policy engagement on forest crime, environmental crime and illicit economies in the Amazon region, with a particular focus on Peru and the Andean countries.
Alonso has nearly a decade of experience designing, implementing and evaluating public policies on security and governance. Prior to joining GI-TOC, he served as Serious and Organised Crime Officer at the British Foreign Office, providing strategic analysis on organised crime trends across Latin America. He has also held senior positions in the Peruvian government, including Director of Security Policy Design and Evaluation at the Ministry of the Interior and Head of the National Crime Prevention Strategy “Barrio Seguro”. Alonso holds a Master of Public Administration from Columbia University in New York and a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology from the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru (PUCP).
