This week (2–6 March), UN member states and civil-society groups are gathering in Vienna for the annual session of the UN Commission on Narcotic Drugs (CND) at the headquarters of the UN Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC).
The global and interconnected nature of illicit economies requires the international community to enhance and better coordinate its responses to drug trafficking, transnational organized crime, and sustainable development. As part of our efforts to contribute to this process, the Global Initiative Against Transnational Organized Crime will be taking an active role at the CND, co-organizing two events, showcasing our latest research and field programmes related to drug-related Transnational Organized Crime. We look forward to engaging with stakeholders at these events in order to contribute to the debate and to the development of policy.
Our events
will highlight the changing nature of drug trafficking and use in Africa, as
well as the benefits of engaging with the communities affected by drug
trafficking, as the international community develops its responses.
