A social researcher with nineteen years of experience working on a diverse range of issues, including migration (with a strong emphasis on forced migration), organised immigration crime, conflict analysis and conflict sensitivity, access to justice, transitional justice, gender-based violence and qualitative research design. Experience of working with a broad range of governments, non-governmental organisations and donors in order to understand conflict and migration contexts, their impact on local populations, and how policy interventions can improve their effectiveness.
In addition to an established research portfolio, Lucy is Managing Editor of the International Journal of Transitional Justice, a Deployable Civilian Expert for the UK Government’s Stabilisation Unit, a member of UNDP’s Experts Roster for Rapid Respond, a Senior Research Associate of the International Refugee Rights Initiative, and a Senior Research Associate of the Refugee Law Initiative (London University). Her book, ‘Refugees, Conflict and the Search for Belonging’ was published by Palgrave in 2016.
Country experience includes: Bangladesh, Burundi, Democratic Republic of Congo, Egypt, Ethiopia, Eritrea (remote), Gambia, Jordan, Kenya, Morocco, Rwanda, Somalia, South Sudan, Sudan, Tanzania, Tunisia and Uganda.
