Editor, Global Initiative against Transnational Organized Crime
Jennifer Malec is an editor at the Global Initiative Against Transnational Organized Crime (GI-TOC). She has worked as a writer, literary critic and editor since 2007, and joined the GI-TOC as a consulting editor in 2023.
She is the founding editor of The Johannesburg Review of Books, an independent literary journal, and the treasurer of PEN South Africa, an NGO dedicated to defending freedom of expression. She has received a number of honours for her work, including two National Arts Festival Arts Journalism awards and a South African Literary Award.
Jennifer holds an MA in English Studies from the University of Cape Town. As a writer and editor, she has undertaken projects with, among others, the Iziko Museums of South Africa, the GALA Queer Archive, Unicef and various South African publishers.
