The Global Initiative against Transnational Organized Crime stands in solidarity with Dinko Gruhonjic, editor-in-chief of VOICE and program director of Independent Journalists’ Association of Vojvodina. We strongly condemn threats against him and the attack against his property. Throughout the world, civil society, including independent journalists, play a key role in strengthening resilience against criminal governance and organized crime. We support the efforts of civil society organizations throughout the Western Balkans engaged in such activities. We urge the Government of Serbia and the local authorities in Novi Sad to take tangible measures to ensure that the media have the freedom and security to report in an objective and independent manner.
