Julius Kaka

Julius Kaka started as a Research Assistant for a number of research projects for the GI-TOC in 2017. From October 2019 until 2023 he was a research consultant for the East and Southern Africa Organized Crime Observatory.

Julius holds a BA in History of Gulu University, Uganda and MSc Security Leadership and Development of King’s College London. He is a recipient of the Peace and Security Fellowship for Junior African Scholars and alumni at the African Leadership Centre, King’s College London.

He has carried out research on Leadership and Transnational Organized Crime in the East African Community as well as tracing heroin criminal ecosystems along the East and Southern African Seabed. Prior to this, Julius served as a lecturer at the Department of History, Gulu University and Assistant Field Coordinator with Northern Uganda Program on Health Sciences. He is currently a part-time lecturer in the Department of Social Sciences at Uganda Christian University MUC teaching courses in International Security, Transnational Organized crime and Foreign Policy Analysis.
