Head of Office, UNODC (Tunisia)
David Izadifar currently serves as Head of Office for UNODC in Tunisia, as well as Criminal Intelligence Advisor for the Middle East and North Africa. In this capacity, he acts as the regional focal point for the research programme on terrorism and organized crime and supervises the implementation of UNODC national, regional, and global programmes in Tunisia.
Mr. Izadifar started his international career as the Regional Programme Coordinator in war-torn Burundi and later in the Democratic Republic of Congo. He was then appointed Chief of Mission of an Italian aid organization for three years in Tajikistan.
In 2004, Mr. Izadifar joined the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) as Political advisor and he was appointed as an Information Analyst in 2006 with the same organisation working on terrorism, political development, and organised crime.
Mr. Izadifar joined UNODC’s Regional Office for West and Central Africa in 2011 as the Head of Research and Analysis Section undertaking substantive research on licit and illicit trafficking and terrorism in West Africa, and contributing to the development and implementation of analytical studies and threat assessments on drugs and crime.
Prior to his work as Head of Office in Tunis, he spent a year in Brussels as the Coordinator of EU funded programmes, and then as a consultant for the International Organisation for Migration (IOM) working on the sources of funding of terrorist groups in Mauritania.
Mr. David Izadifar holds a bachelor and MA in Political Science from the Laval University (Canada).
