Launch of a new study authored by Arezo Malakooti examining the political economy of both the formal and informal migrant detention systems in Libya including governance patterns, the role of armed groups v. the central government, smuggling and trafficking dynamics, and business models and financial flows.

It is based on interviews with migrants, armed groups, authorities and other key informants in four countries: Niger, Libya, Italy and Malta.
